Chief Mentor Young Hearts Club

Today, I would like to speak about Young Hearts Club. The name itself was a sudden yet profound realization of the entrepreneur behind this initiative. Young Hearts Club is the brainchild of Priyanka Chatterjee, a young lady entrepreneur who met me a few years ago with her dream of setting up an institution that would cater to the needs of elderly persons.

From the very beginning of civilization, as described in Indian mythology, human life has been divided into various phases according to age. The final phase, known since ancient times as Vanaprastha, suggests that once a person has fulfilled his earthly responsibilities, he should gradually withdraw from material engagements and prepare for the world beyond this mortal life.

However, today, with the advent of disruptive technologies, the barrier of age is no longer acceptable. Even in India, average life expectancy has increased significantly, and naturally, people need to remain actively engaged well beyond what mythology once prescribed—roughly between the ages of 55 and 60—when one was expected to relinquish worldly responsibilities, lead a spartan life, and focus solely on spirituality.

In today’s world, spirituality must be discovered within our day-to-day lives while remaining meaningfully engaged. As one monk once said, “I am not the one who is free from the bondage of the body; I will take the power of liberation and share the power of liberation among all.” This philosophy is exactly what Priyanka’s Young Hearts Club represents. One can sense the spirit of the Young Hearts Club simply by seeing her passion and conviction.

That is why, Young Hearts Club has been established in Parshavur. I have personally been involved in the education system for almost 25 years, and our campus—comprising schools and colleges—forms part of this extended family. Young Hearts Club naturally integrates into this environment.

The main advantage, or USP, that differentiates us from other so-called senior living arrangements is that, on one hand, we are surrounded by nature, offering the serenity it provides. We have everything one could ask for: a garden that produces organic vegetables, fruit-bearing trees offering almost every variety, and a peaceful, wholesome environment.

At the same time, we have a hospital just 105 meters away, run by us. Incidentally, I am also associated with medical education and have been fortunate to mentor more than 8,000 doctors practicing across the globe, with over 1,000 in West Bengal. The hospital I am referring to is run by two of my former students, ensuring a fully functional and accomplished medical facility capable of handling any emergency needs of our residents.

On the other side, being adjacent to schools and colleges, the daytime atmosphere never feels lonely. There is constant activity, energy and the comforting presence of young minds. One can witness the hustle and bustle of academic life, which adds vibrancy and emotional well-being.

At the end of the day, we believe this will be a deeply satisfying living experience—peaceful yet connected, and not far from the city. In terms of distance, Garia Bus Stand is approximately 14 kilometers away, Ruby is about 19 kilometers, the airport is 38 kilometers, and Sealdah Station is 26 kilometers away. Reaching any of these landmarks takes no more than an hour.

Young Hearts Club is not just a place to live, it is a space to stay active, connected, and fulfilled.
